Our Founder Story

Le Sud Patisserie began with a simple passion — a love for the timeless art of French patisserie and a desire to bring it to Auckland. The bakery was founded by Sunita, a pastry chef trained at the esteemed Le Cordon Bleu.

What started as a dream to craft delicate, refined desserts soon evolved into a boutique cake studio built on artistry, care, and attention to detail. Sunita’s vision: to create cakes and pastries that don’t just taste exceptional — but also feel like little celebrations in themselves.

Baking Philosophy

At Le Sud, we believe a cake should be more than just sweet — it should be an experience. Every dessert we create is handcrafted to order, in small batches, with precision and love. 

Our philosophy revolves around balance: balanced flavours, balanced sweetness, and balanced textures. Instead of relying on sugar overload to hide mediocre ingredients, we use real, high-quality ingredients so that every bite stands on its own. Moist sponges, subtle sweetness, fresh fruit purées — that’s the Le Sud promise. 

We believe in letting the quality of ingredients and the craft of baking shine — not flashy decoration or shortcuts.

Quality begins at the ingredient level. At Le Sud Patisserie we use:

  • Premium couverture chocolate 

  • Fresh New Zealand butter

  • Pure fruit purées and seasonal fruits where appropriate 

  • Real dairy, high-quality flour — and for dietary-friendly cakes, carefully selected alternatives​

 

By sourcing the best ingredients and avoiding artificial flavourings or fillers, we ensure our cakes are not only delicious — but authentically so. This commitment to ingredient quality is what gives our cakes depth, richness, and a natural, balanced sweetness.

How Our Cakes Are Made

Every cake at Le Sud is made to order — never mass-produced, never sitting on the shelf for days. 

Here’s a glimpse into our process:

  1. Request & Consultation — You tell us what you envision: size, flavour, occasion, dietary needs (e.g. vegan, gluten-free, egg- or dairy-free). 

  2. Small-Batch Baking — We bake in small batches to ensure freshness, even texture, and optimal moisture. 

  3. Crafting & Decoration — Using premium ingredients such as couverture chocolate, fruit purées, and fine butter, we build cakes that look as good as they taste — from minimalist modern designs to more indulgent creations. 

  4. Final Checks & Presentation — Before delivery or pickup, we make sure your cake meets our standards: moist sponge, balanced sweetness, and elegant finishing.

Because every cake is bespoke, there’s flexibility — whether you want a classic chocolate cake, a light vegan dessert, or a refined multi-tier cake for a wedding or celebration.

Where You Can Find Us

While we operate primarily online, offering delivery across Auckland, we also bring our creations directly to the community: you can find Le Sud Patisserie at the Clevedon Farmers Market every Sunday. That’s a great chance to sample our treats in person or order something fresh for the week. 

Whether you catch us at the market or place an order online, we aim to make it easy and delightful from cake-conception to cake-in-hand.

Delivery Process & Same-Day Options

Understanding that celebrations don’t always happen on schedule, we offer convenient delivery across Auckland. Simply place your order online (or call us), choose your delivery date at checkout — and we’ll bring your cake to your doorstep. 

In many cases, same-day delivery is available (depending on our schedule and your location). For orders outside the standard delivery region, we’re happy to discuss arrangements — just get in touch. 

This means last-minute birthdays, surprise celebrations, or spontaneous sweet cravings don’t have to go unmet.
